Farmington Township, Van Buren County, Iowa
Northwest Part of Section 4
Boyer Cemetery is one of the smaller cemeteries not among
those indexed by the Van Buren County Genealogical Society.
You will find a listing of their available cemetery books on their
web site.
This cemetery was apparently adjacent to the now
non-existent town of Boyer Station, 2 miles west of Farmington. The town was on the railroad between Farmington and Bonaparte, and the cemetery is just south of the railroad tract and west of the gravel road . . . a few feet from the road. There were only three stones standing. The road has been moved as it formerly went on the other side of the cemetery. A large, new roadbed has been made, and one wonders if perhaps some of the graves on the east side of the cemetery might have been disturbed. There is a large mound of earth from the road work on one side of the burial ground. It is reached by driving south from Highway #2 on the first gravel road east of Steinmeyer Cemetery. Burials 1853 to 1876, Copied (and described above) August of 1964 by Marian Flake Typed by: Edith Ellen Williams |
